Director of Water Resources - San Diego County Water Authority
Ken Weinberg directs the San Diego County Water Authority's long-term water supply and facilities planning and water resources management, including the development of regional local supply projects such as seawater desalination. The Water Resources Department is responsible for implementing the Water Authority's Water Shortage and Drought Management Plan. The department also ensures the Water Authority's projects comply with environmental regulations and assists the agency's 24 member agencies in planning and implementing local water resources projects.
Architect and Urbanist, Professor - University of California, San Diego
Teddy Cruz was born in Guatemala City. He obtained a Master in Design Studies at Harvard University in 1997. He has been recognized internationally for his urban research of the Tijuana-San Diego border, advancing border immigrant neighborhoods as sites of cultural production, from which to rethink urban policy, affordable housing and civic infrastructure. In 1991 he received the prestigious Rome Prize in Architecture and in 2005 he was the first recipient of the James Stirling Memorial Lecture On The City Prize, by the Canadian Center of Architecture and the London School of Economics.
Simon Mayeski is a founding member of SanDiego 350. He has focused on the Regional Plan for the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), paying particular attention to SANDAG’s responsibility to fight global climate change in California. He has also helped organize SanDiego350′s rallies and marches and currently serves on the group’s Public Policy committee, and serves as the organization’s treasurer. He also serves as campaign treasurer for a number of San Diego area political candidates.
Director of Environmental Technologies - Akamai Technologies, Inc.
Nicole oversees the strategy and execution of sustainability initiatives across the company, including energy and greenhouse gas management and reporting, energy efficiency and electronic-waste reduction, employee engagement and stakeholder-awareness. She spends much of her time collaborating with engineers innovating around the energy efficiency, productivity and carbon intensity of Akamai’s global Intelligent Cloud Platform which represents 90% of Akamai’s environmental impact.
Director of Marketing and Government Relations - Kyocera Solar
Cecilia Aguillon is the Director of Marketing and Government Relations for Kyocera Solar, Inc. She works with local, state, and federal governments across the United States, Canada and Mexico on designing and implementing solar energy programs and renewable portfolio standard programs. Cecilia works with several solar trade associations around the United States. She currently serves as Vice President on the California Solar Energy Industries Association (CalSEIA) Board, on the TXSEIA board, and on the San Diego Regional Sustainability Partnership Board.
Congressman Scott Peters serves California’s 52nd Congressional District, which includes the cities of Coronado, Poway and most of northern San Diego. First elected in 2012, he currently serves on the House committees on Armed Services & on the Science, Space, & Technology Committee.
Director, Center for Environment and National Security - Scripps Institution of Oceanography
Reno works for a better environment. In 2009 he founded and is currently the Director of the Center for Environment and National Security at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He has organized and led two symposia mixing scientists with Washington policy makers and does grant work for the EPA, USAID and World Bank. He served in the Department of State in Washington as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Oceans, Environment, Science and Health.
Director, Scripps CO2 Program - Scripps Institution of Oceanography
Ralph Keeling is the current program director of the Scripps CO2 Program. He is also a Professor and the Principal Investigator for the Atmospheric Oxygen Research Group at SIO. Keeling’s research has focused primarily on atmospheric processes but he has recently turned also to studying oxygen in the ocean.
Executive Director - Regional Task Force on the Homeless
Delores Diaz, Executive Director of the Regional Task Force on the Homeless and Housing Program Analyst at the County of San Diego. Each year the Task Force sends 1000 volunteers in one night to document San Diego's homeless population and report their findings to the City and County of San Diego.
Ruth Bruland is Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul Village www.svdpv.org/ and a Vice President of Father Joe's Villages. She began working with Father Joe's Villages in 1998, as Executive Director of Las Vegas' MASH Village. Prior to that she was the founding director of an interfaith emergency shelter for families.
