In 2022, the California legislature passed a bill that was signed into law which requires 3,200 feet health buffers between oil drilling and processing sites and people’s homes, schools, hospitals, playgrounds and workplaces. 

Big Oil spent $20 Million to immediately collect signatures to put a referendum on the November 2024 ballot. They will spend millions more to repeal the law at the ballot box, and have, at the very least, delayed its implementation for 2 years.

Youth v. Oil is advocating for the San Diego City Council to pass a resolution supporting the Campaign for a Safe and Health California and keeping SB1137, the state law passed in 2022 to prohibit new or modified oil and gas wells within 3,200 feet of homes, schools, daycare centers, parks, healthcare facilities, and businesses.

The Youth4Climate Fall 2023 Summit is for high school and college students interested in honing their skills as an activist of any kind! Youth4Climate is supporting climate strikes on September 15th, empowering youth to rise up for our futures and demand that world leaders take action to avoid climate breakdown. And we need art to get the message across and compel people to join the movement!

Join us on Sept 2nd from 10 am-3pm at Masada's house in La Mesa to build signs, listen to music, and connect with new friends in a semi-structured format. Come for any part of the day!
